Orientation and Transition
Orientation Program for families entering the College in 2021
The Orientation Program provides an opportunity for parents and students to be introduced to the College environment and to receive information for a smooth transition. The Allwell Test for students and Parent Information morning will be held on Saturday 7 November 2020. Another test will be offered in early 2021 for those unable to attend.
Orientation Program for Year 7 2021
Two Orientation Days for new Year 7 students are organised each year. The first day is where incoming students will have the opportunity to meet each other and their Year 10 Peer Support Leaders who will help them settle into the College. Orientation for Year 7 2021 students will be held Friday 13 November 2020. The other day is an ICT Orientation Day where students will receive their new laptops and have the opportunity to become more comfortable in using the College laptop and digital resources available at MSB once they start the following year. This day will be held on Friday 11 December 2020.
Orientation for new students commencing in Years 8 - 12 during the College Year
New students will spend an afternoon with their Head of House who will provide them with key information and introduce them to staff in the IRC (Library) and the ICT (Technology) Departments and the College Chaplain. Ex-student mentors will be on-hand for support and share afternoon tea provided by the College. The Orientation Afternoon will be held late January 2021.
At the beginning of their first day students will then be linked with a buddy who will help them to settle in.
A follow-up meeting with the Head of House will occur about four to six weeks after entry to ensure a smooth transition.
