Academy of Music
The Academy of Music offers a quality program that is inclusive of all members of our community.
Individual Music Tuition
Students have the opportunity to work with specialist music tutors in learning specific instruments of their choice. As part of the tuition program, students attend weekly individual lessons during normal school hours. All tutors are industry professionals who teach a range of students from interested musicians to more formal programs such as AMEB examinations.
Ensemble Music Program
The Academy of Music also offers a range of music ensembles for students to be involved in. Participation in music ensembles allow students to improve their performance ability and confidence as they experience a sense of achievement from performing with a group of talented students. There are some ensembles and programs that are audition-based which ensures that highly-skilled students are challenged by appropriate repertoire.
All students have performance opportunities throughout the year to help develop their confidence and skill in their chosen areas. Performance opportunities range from more formal events such as the Annual Music Showcase, College liturgies and ceremonies to informal events such as lunchtime concerts. Furthermore, some ensembles compete at external eisteddfods and competitions. This is to cater for different levels of challenge reflective of the relevant type of program.
The Academy also offers workshops and master-classes that are strategically designed to meet student needs and interest areas. For example, we have offered musical theatre and song-writing workshops during holiday breaks to provide additional learning opportunities for our students.
The Academy of Music is overseen by the Music Academy Convenor. We are fortunate to have all classes facilitated by qualified music tutors who bring a wealth of industry and professional experience to the program.
